What you'll do
Two hours on a wooden dhow off the north-west corner, which is the only side of the island where the sun goes down into the sea. No engine once we are out — the crew sail her properly, and they will show you how if you ask.
- The only coast on Unguja where the sun sets into the water
- Sailed, not motored — the engine stays off
- Cold drinks, spiced cashews and fresh fruit
- Back in time for dinner

Good to know before you book
- You board from the beach into shallow water — bare feet or sandals you can carry.
- Nothing is served in glass and the deck is wooden; children are welcome but it is not a playground.
- If the sea is up we move the departure or cancel — never both boats out in a swell.
- Vegetarian, no-alcohol and birthday arrangements are all easy. Just say.
Questions people ask
- Can we book the whole boat?
- Yes. Private hire is $320 for up to 16 people, including the same drinks and snacks. Request it and we will confirm the boat.
- What time does it actually leave?
- It moves through the year with the sunset, from about 16:40 in June to 17:20 in December. We confirm the exact time when we answer your request.
What guests said
Only guests who actually travelled with us can leave a review
The engine went off and stayed off. Two hours of nothing but the sail and the water.
Nina & Georg · travelled 7 September
Cheapest thing we did and the one we still talk about. The crew let our son steer.

Beautiful, but the boat was full at sixteen. If you want space, pay for the private hire.
